BASF’s sales in the second quarter reached 22.974 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 16%

ECHEMI 2022-07-13

On July 11, BASF released preliminary data for the second quarter. Sales in the second quarter of 2022 increased by 16% to 22.974 billion euros. This was mainly due to higher prices, as well as the positive impact of currency factors, mainly driven by the U.S. dollar.

BASF's EBIT before special items in the second quarter is expected to be 2.339 billion euros, almost the same as the same period last year, with rising raw material and energy prices driving up product prices further.

BASF's second-quarter earnings before interest and taxes are expected to be 2.350 billion euros, slightly higher than the same period last year. Net income is expected to reach 2.090 billion euros, well above the 1.654 billion euros in the same period last year.

The BASF Group's forecast for the 2022 financial year remains unchanged for the time being.
