Huntsman Group Asia Pacific headquarters officially settled in Shanghai

On November 20, 2019, Mr. Pan Limin, President of polyurethane Asia Pacific region of Huntsman group, was invited to attend the licensing ceremony of the regional headquarters of multinational companies in Shanghai. The completion of the licensing marks that the Asia Pacific headquarters of Huntsman group has officially settled in Shanghai and obtained the certification of Shanghai municipal government. The completion of Shanghai headquarters is an important milestone for Huntsman's development in China. It not only shows that Huntsman group's contribution and influence to China's economic development in the past 30 years has been widely recognized, but also further strengthens the engine position of Chinese market in Huntsman's global strategic development. As the largest economic gateway city in China, Shanghai has an international quality business environment, and its open and inclusive urban temperament also provides strong support for the business development of multinational enterprises.
At the ceremony, Mr. Pan said: "with the continuous development of Huntsman group's business in Asia, it is imperative to establish a regional headquarters to plan and manage the business in the whole Asia Pacific region. In August of this year, the Shanghai municipal government issued several opinions on promoting the development of regional headquarters of multinational companies in Shanghai, aiming at re developing the headquarters economy. Huntsman group has been deeply involved in Shanghai for a long time. This time, the Asia Pacific region is headquartered in Shanghai. It is precisely because of its sustained reform and opening-up in a wide range of fields and at a high level, as well as its unique potential to become a more competitive and influential economic zone in the international market in the future. " After the establishment of Huntsman group's Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters, it will gradually undertake the investment, management, trade, RMB and foreign currency fund allocation and other functions of huntsman in the Asia Pacific region, integrate and expand its existing equity and investment in the mainland, further promote the business development of Huntsman group in the Asia Pacific region, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of Shanghai's economic vitality.
To take root in the Chinese market and fulfill the local commitment, Huntsman has been committed to implementing the local commitment and continuously developing technology and solutions based on the domestic market, compared with simply introducing technology and capital into China. As an early global polyurethane giant in China, in the past 30 years, Huntsman group has achieved three firsts in the development of China's polyurethane industry. In 1992, Huntsman established the first foreign-funded technical service center of polyurethane industry in China; in 1996, Huntsman polyurethane (China) Co., Ltd. was officially put into production as the first foreign-funded polyurethane system material factory; in 2006, Huntsman built the first large-scale polyurethane MDI factory with an annual production capacity of 160000 tons in China, and the second phase of the project was expanded and put into production in August 2018 , an additional investment of 5 billion yuan, reaching a total capacity of 400000 tons per year. As early as 2008, the huntsman Asia Pacific Research and Development Center (ATC), which was established in Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone, Shanghai, has been constructed in two phases. Now it covers an area of 19000 square meters, with a total cost of 280 million yuan.
It has world-class research and development laboratories and computer rooms, and has become one of the three research and development centers of Huntsman group in the world, and is an important fulcrum of Huntsman's sustainable development and innovation. After more than 20 years of development, Huntsman has actually developed and built a land area of nearly 40000 square meters in Shanghai Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone. So far, Huntsman group has invested 15 billion yuan in China. After the establishment of the Asia Pacific headquarters, Huntsman will continue to actively give back to the Chinese market in the future and help the development and construction of the "five centers" in Shanghai. Since 2018, Huntsman has integrated its advantages in innovative materials, technology, application and industry experience to create four innovative solutions for China's sustainable development, namely, insulation solutions, automobile solutions, composite board solutions, and environmentally friendly solvent-free solutions. The four sustainable innovation programs provide a practical and effective way to solve the outstanding environmental protection problems and empower China's sustainable development issues. In 2018 alone, Huntsman polyurethane pipeline solution was applied to the laying of more than 150 kilometers of energy-saving and heat preservation pipelines, benefiting 10 million urban residents' clean heating, reducing more than 5000 combustion chimneys, 7 million tons of carbon dioxide and 14000 tons of volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions. Localization talent training and innovation vitality. Huntsman adheres to the practice of sustainable innovation with localized and professional teams. The talent composition of its R & D center in the Asia Pacific region is the epitome of this concept.
More than 90% of the more than 160 scientists and technicians in R & D center are local talents. In order to continue to cultivate local innovative talents in science and technology, Huntsman has also set up a scholarship program at Tongji University to encourage young students to master professional skills and improve their innovation ability. Over 50 students have won the scholarship in the past five years. In the future, Huntsman will be led by the Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters, further implement the innovation quality training with sustainable development as the content, continue to take root in Shanghai, continue to cultivate professional innovation talents serving the future needs of the Chinese market, and help the sustainable development to maintain innovation vitality.
