BASF officially launched Guangdong new integrated production base project

BASF officially launched the new integrated production base project in Guangdong Province. The US $10 billion investment project has reached an important milestone. The world-class new integrated production base will adopt top technology and comply with high safety and environmental protection standards. The first batch of devices will be built to produce engineering plastics and thermoplastic polyurethane and serve many major industries. BASF The project of Guangdong new integrated production base (Verbund), with a total investment of US $10 billion, was officially launched in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, and the first batch of units were started to be built. This is an important milestone since the project was announced in July 2018. The first batch of units of the project will produce engineering plastics and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), so as to meet the customer demand of multiple growth industries in South China and the whole Asian market.

Our new integrated production base will become the cornerstone of Zhanjiang's world-class industrial cluster and provide strong support for BASF's business development in South China and Asian markets. " By 2022, the new engineering plastics modification device will contribute 60000 tons of modified engineering plastics products to BASF in China every year, and increase the total production of modified engineering plastics products of BASF in Asia Pacific region to 290000 tons. BASF will use this to better meet the growing needs of customers, especially in the automotive, electronic products, new energy vehicles and other industries.
BASF plans to adopt top technology in the integrated base and fully implement the concept of intelligent production. The new base will also adopt technologies such as automatic packaging, high-tech control system and automatic guided vehicles. BASF integrated base will also contribute to the development of local communities in Zhanjiang. The company is forming strategic partners with local technical schools and other units to cultivate professional talents. BASF integrated base (Guangdong) Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF, has also been officially established. The company is mainly responsible for the operation of the new integrated base, reflecting BASF's commitment to the Chinese market. BASF signed the first integrated base memorandum of understanding with the Guangdong Provincial Government in July 2018 in Berlin, Germany, and signed a framework agreement in January 2019 to develop planning details. Guangdong integrated base will be BASF's largest overseas investment project so far. The total investment is expected to be up to 10 billion US dollars and will be independently constructed and operated by BASF. Upstream and downstream production units from basic chemicals to consumer goods will form an integrated value chain to support growth industries such as consumer goods and transportation. Guangdong integrated base will become BASF's third largest integrated production base in the world, second only to Ludwigshafen in Germany and Antwerp in Belgium. The first unit will be put into operation in 2022, and the whole integrated base is expected to be completed in 2030.
