CNPC establishes Technical Standards Committee for gas storage

On December 10, the technical standard committee of gas storage was established in Chongqing. It is responsible for the research, formulation and management of industrial standards in the fields of location, construction and operation of gas storage in China. It is planned to build a gas storage technical standard system suitable for China's actual situation in five years. Why should it form a gas storage technical standard system? Gas storage is a man-made gas field formed by commercial natural gas re injected into the underground space, which is used to balance the peak valley difference of seasonal gas consumption, cope with the sudden accidents of long-distance pipeline, and ensure the national energy security. It has been more than 100 years since the construction and operation of gas storages in foreign countries. There are more than 700 gas storages in the world, and the recoverable gas volume is about 393 billion cubic meters. In the past 20 years, 27 gas storages have been built in China, with a gas production capacity of more than 12 billion cubic meters, forming a technical series of gas storages under complex geological conditions. It can be predicted that with the rapid growth of China's natural gas consumption, the construction of gas storage will show a "blowout" growth trend.

 

The state issued a number of opinions on deepening the reform of the oil and gas system, accelerating the construction of gas storage facilities, and the important instructions of the party and state leaders, which sounded a short board assembly number to supplement the peak shaving of gas storage. CNPC plans to build six major natural gas storage centers in North China, Northeast China and southwest China, Sinopec accelerates the construction of Wen23 and other gas storage centers, CNOOC makes great efforts to tackle gas storage technology, and many gas companies are planning gas storage construction. It is just the right time for China to start the construction of gas storage technical standard system, digest and absorb the research results and practical experience of domestic and foreign gas storage construction and operation, and standardize and guide enterprises to build gas storage with high quality. What gaps does the technical standard system of gas storage fill? In September last year, CNPC completed the compilation of technical standards for design, construction and management of gas storage projects, filling in the gaps in domestic gas storage construction and management specifications, and laying the foundation for China's gas storage technical standard system.

 

After that, PetroChina set up a project to study the "technical standard system of gas storage", basically determined the preparation principles, ideas and key contents of the technical standard system of gas storage, and then solicited the opinions of Sinopec, CNOOC and other relevant units, forming the top-level design of the technical standard system of gas storage, establishing the technical standard committee of gas storage, as well as recent important work items. From the perspective of top-level design, the technical standard system of gas storage includes five professional directions, including site selection and scheme demonstration, engineering design, construction, production and operation, and waste disposal. Currently, 53 standards have been designed. In 2020, the research work of 15 standards, including terminology of gas storage, Recommended Practice for site selection evaluation of gas storage, design method of gas storage capacity parameters, design code for surface engineering of salt cavern gas storage, will be started, with an investment of more than 2 million yuan. There are 48 members of the technical standards committee of gas storage, including 41 units including PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC, Chinese Academy of Sciences, petroleum universities and Beijing gas. It covers all domestic research institutions, construction, management and investment units of gas storage, with senior engineers accounting for 95%, 1 academician and 5 doctoral directors. The establishment of gas storage technical standard committee is the key link of the construction of gas storage technical standard system.

 

Tang Lin, chairman of the technical standards committee of gas storage, said that at present, it is necessary to establish working mechanisms such as coordination, communication and discussion among member units as soon as possible, further optimize and improve the top-level design, and implement the corresponding responsible units and persons, so as to promote the construction of the technical standards system of gas storage to enter the substantive stage. On December 3, PetroChina's 23 gas storages produced 100.7 million cubic meters of gas, 390000 cubic meters higher than the record high daily output set on January 10, which is equivalent to the daily domestic gas consumption of more than 67 million households. In October 1997, PetroChina established the first Research Institute of gas storage in China, tackling the technology of location, construction and management, etc., supporting PetroChina to rapidly build 23 gas storage facilities, with an annual gas output of more than 10 billion cubic meters for peak load regulation and guaranteed supply, forming key technologies such as location evaluation of gas storage facilities. In March of this year, PetroChina started a new round of gas storage operation, started the expansion project of gas storage, explored the gas storage potential of the gas storage, and further improved the supply guarantee capacity of PetroChina in the low temperature season. On November 15, 23 gas storages of PetroChina completed equipment maintenance, 164 wells were successively opened for gas production, and the overall load rate was more than 90%. This means that there is still room for further growth in the daily gas production of 23 gas reservoirs of PetroChina. Wu Li, head of the central injection station of XIANGGUOSI gas storage, said that during the new year's day and Spring Festival, employees should stick to their posts to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
