Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India Doubles Its Sales Network to 5500
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) on Tuesday announced that it has made the biggest and fastest network expansion in the history of Indian two-wheeler industry.
According to the company, it is the only company in the Indian two-wheeler industry to double its network count and to inaugurate a significant 2,800-new touch points in the past two and half years.
With the inaugural of Rudra Honda, a sub-dealer in Mirzapur, the HMSI’s total network count in India has now reached to the 5500-outlet mark.
Minoru Kato, President & CEO, HMSI, said: “In past couple of years to meet the increased demand of Honda two-wheelers, we have invested Rs 9,500 crore in the new plants, multiplying its production capacity four times from 16 lakh units in 2010-11 to 64 lakh units this year. This was supported by new model launches both in the motorcycles as well as scooter segment and refreshed product line-up ranging from 110cc to 1800cc engine capacity."
"Delighting millions of Indian customers across the country, it is imperative to make HMSI products and services available, especially in the hinterland. And this has made HMSI’s growth truly satisfying is our aggressive network expansion. Increasing our penetration in the hinterlands in line with our product strategy is a critical part of our India strategy,” he added.
In first 14 years of establishment, HMSI expanded its network to around 2,700 outlets ending FY14. In line with the segment presence and product strategy, the focus of the brand in the initial phase of its network expansion was to cover urban and semi-urban demand centres.
With its aggressive strategy for India, HMSI almost doubled its network reach in the last two and half years. HMSI has now shifted its gears to the rural and semi urban areas. In fact, 70 per cent of the new touch points have come up in the rural area, followed by the semi-urban areas.
In the current FY18, HMSI is planning to add 500 new network, out of which nearly 300 outlets have already been inaugurated.
