The patent for chlorantraniliprole, a star insecticide product of FMC,expired in August in China this year.

According to the State Intellectual Property Office, the patent application date is August 13, 2002. The term of the invention patent is 20 years, and the expiration date is August 13, 2022.However, it is worth noting that FMC has a wide portfolio of patents in the technical field of Chlorantraniliprole. After the project construction of Changqing(Hubei) Biotechnology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Changqing, is completed and put into operation, it can produce 1000 tons of Chlorantraniliprole technical annually. The project of the wholly-owned subsidiary of Guangxin Co.,Ltd. is implemented in two phases. After the construction of the second phase,the capacity is 1000 tons of chlorantraniliprole. Shenzhen Noposion has obtained the registration of chlorantraniliprole products. Lier Chemical had developed a series of new products including chlorantraniliprole.

Interms of formulations, the number of registrations in China has reached 62, of which more than 40 are compounded registrations. There is no doubt that compounded registration will become the mainstream of the future market in response to the increasingly prominent resistance problem.
