SUEZ releases Asia Sustainability Report
Recently, SUEZ officially released the Suez Asia Sustainability Report 2021. The report expounds SUEZ's determination, plans and actions in sustainable development in China and Asia to stakeholders from multiple perspectives and dimensions.
According to the report, SUEZ has been working to mitigate climate change in Asia and reduce its environmental footprint by optimizing operations and industrial chains. SUEZ is also committed to helping customers reduce carbon emissions by providing 100% sustainable solutions. At present, Suez has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 126,197 tons, generated 219 GWh of electricity from renewable energy, produced 17.81 million cubic meters of alternative water, and produced 62,244 tons of waste-derived fuels. In terms of enhancing environmental benefits with high-quality services, SUEZ has updated and formulated the most stringent environmental compliance standards in Asia, covering the entire business process from project development to operation. The company has established a systematic approach to managing operations and services, focusing on performance management while taking into account environmental and industrial risk management, cybersecurity risk management, technical reporting and knowledge management. In addition, SUEZ's water and solid waste services in Asia cover more than 20 million people, with a sewage treatment capacity of 419 million cubic meters and a hazardous waste treatment capacity of 146,458 tons. Action plans were implemented at biodiversity priority sites, resulting in a 424% increase in soil remediation compared to 2020; and a 65% increase in groundwater and leachate treatment.
Concerning the community, SUEZ's mission in Asia is to fulfill its responsibilities as a corporate citizen and help the communities it serves to improve people's livelihood, environmental benefits and social cohesion. It has invested 359 million yuan in communities.
