Industrial oil and gas flow obtained from the first deep well on land in Asia

ECHEMI 2020-02-17

A new breakthrough has been made in the exploration of ultra deep oil wells in Tarim Oilfield under CNPC. According to Xinhua news agency, recently, luntan-1 well, the deepest onshore well in Asia, obtained industrial oil and gas flow, with daily crude oil output of 133.46 cubic meters and natural gas output of 48700 cubic meters. This means that PetroChina has opened up an important succeeding strata series and new exploration field in Tarim Basin, and confirmed that the 8000 meter ultra deep layer has the petroleum geological conditions to form large oil and gas fields. Luntan-1 well is located in Luntai County, Xinjiang. It was drilled on June 28, 2018, with a depth of 8882 meters. It has set a new record of Asia's onshore ultra deep well with a depth of 8588 meters created by Sinopec shunbeiying-1 well. As a risk exploration well, the purpose of drilling lunjian-1 well is to explore the oil-gas potential of the ultra deep Cambrian under salt dolomite, open up a new exploration field of Lunnan Oil and gas field, and accelerate the exploration process of the ultra deep carbonate rock. Yang Xuewen, general manager of Tarim Oilfield Company, said that the 8000 meter ultra deep Cambrian in Tarim Basin has a wide exploration scope and great potential.

The favorable exploration area is 23000 square kilometers in the CNPC mining right area. The estimated resource scale is 310 million tons of oil, 3.3 trillion cubic meters of natural gas and 3 billion tons of oil and gas equivalent, which is expected to become a new resource replacement area. At present, the buried depth of oil and gas reservoirs in Tarim Basin is 6000-10000 meters, and the amount of ultra deep oil and gas resources in this basin accounts for more than 60% of the total amount of China's onshore ultra deep oil and gas resources. Since the 12th Five Year Plan, 90% of the oil and gas reservoirs found in Tarim Oilfield are in ultra deep layers. As the third largest oil and gas field on land in China, in 2019, the oil and gas production equivalent of Tarim Oilfield is 28.51 million tons, with a new third-class reserves of 550 million tons, all reaching a record high. There are three trillion cubic meters of gas reserves in Tarim Oilfield, which are Kela Keshen trillion cubic meters gas area, Bozi Dabei gas area and Qiulitage gas area. Last year, Tarim oilfield produced 28.55 billion cubic meters of natural gas. In addition to new discoveries, Tarim Oilfield is also stabilizing the production of old oil and gas blocks. According to petrochina.com, in the past two years, Tarim Oilfield has recovered 432000 tons of crude oil production capacity and 2.34 billion cubic meters of natural gas, equivalent to building a new 2.3 million ton oil and gas field. Under the condition that the output of the main gas field is reduced by 6 million cubic meters per day, the output equivalent of the old oil and gas field keeps increasing by more than one million tons for three consecutive years. PetroChina expects that by 2020, the oil and gas production equivalent of Tarim Oilfield will reach 30 billion cubic meters.
