An explosion was detected near the leak point of the 'Beixi' natural gas pipeline. The first phase in Denmark is called 'deliberate destruction'

On the 26th, the Swedish Survey Station detected two strong underwater explosions in the same water area where the "Beixi - 1" and "Beixi - 2" gas pipelines leaked. Danish Prime Minister Fraser Riksen said on the evening of the 27th that the leakage of the "Beixi" natural gas pipeline was not an "accident" but a "deliberate destruction".

According to Swedish TV on the 27th, the two explosions occurred at 0:03 and 17:04 GMT on the 26th, respectively, and the Swedish Maritime Bureau issued a warning about gas leakage. Bjorn Lund, associate professor of seismology at the Swedish National Seismological Network, said that it was clear how the waves in the incident waters bounced back from the bottom to the water surface, which meant "an explosion". One of the explosions produced an earthquake of magnitude 2.3, which was detected by 30 survey stations in southern Sweden.

On the evening of the 27th, Fraserriksen said at a news conference that, according to the comprehensive assessment of relevant Danish institutions, the leakage of the "Beixi" natural gas pipeline was not an "accident" but a "deliberate destruction".

The Danish Energy Agency confirmed on the 27th that on the 26th, a leak point was found on the "Beixi - 2" pipeline in the waters near Denmark, and two more leaks were found on the "Beixi - 1" pipeline in the waters near Denmark and Sweden. The Director of the Danish Energy Agency said in a press release that it is extremely rare for natural gas pipelines to leak.

The Danish Maritime Safety Administration has issued a navigation warning, and has established a no sail zone with a radius of 5 nautical miles and a no fly zone with a radius of 1 kilometer near the leakage point in Danish waters. The Swedish Maritime Bureau also issued a navigation warning, requiring all passing ships to keep a distance of more than 5 nautical miles from the leak point until further notice.

Beixi Natural Gas Pipeline Company, the operator of Russia's "Beixi - 1" project, said in a statement on the 27th that the three pipelines of the "Beixi - 1" and "Beixi - 2" submarine gas transmission pipelines were damaged at the same time within one day, which is unprecedented. At present, it is impossible to assess the maintenance time.

The "Beixi - 1" pipeline was completed in 2011, starting from Viborg in Russia in the east and leading to Germany through the Baltic Sea seabed. The "Beixi - 2" pipeline was completed last year, which is basically parallel to the "Beixi - 1" pipeline and has not been put into use yet. However, some natural gas is still sealed in the pipeline.
