Atrophic gastritis
Atrophic gastritis refers to a pathological state in which the gastric mucosa becomes thinner and the intrinsic glands decrease due to various causes. Its onset may be a long, multi-stage, multi-gene mutation accumulation process with the combined effects of multiple causes. Chronic gastritis recurrently causes atrophy and intestinal metaplasia of the gastric mucosal glands, and some glands may develop atypical hyperplasia or develop into cancer. This disease is more common in the elderly. Although atrophic gastritis is a precancerous lesion, cancer is closely related to dysplasia. Therefore, atrophy without obvious dysplasia has no obvious tendency to cancer.
