External hemorrhoids are located below the dentate line. They are caused by varicose veins or inflammation, hypertrophy, connective tissue hyperplasia or thrombosis of the skin of the anal margin folds. The surface of external hemorrhoids is covered with skin, which makes them visible. They cannot be inserted into the anus and are not easy to bleed. The main symptoms are pain and foreign body sensation. Clinically, they are often divided into connective tissue external hemorrhoids, varicose external hemorrhoids, inflammatory external hemorrhoids, and thrombosed external hemorrhoids.
