Verrucous cutaneous tuberculosis is a proliferative skin lesion that occurs after Mycobacterium tuberculosis directly infects the skin through skin trauma. The course of the disease is slow, and it is a benign type of cutaneous tuberculosis. It is caused by exogenous reinfection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in an immune body, causing it to produce localized verrucous cutaneous tuberculosis. It is more common in adults, especially in men (70.8%), and the incidence rate is higher in those who have direct contact with tuberculosis patients or tuberculosis animals. Infection is common in exposed areas, most commonly on the back of the hands and fingers. The characteristics of the lesion are: it initially manifests as a single papule, and the central horny layer gradually thickens and presents a warty hyperplasia. The course of the disease is extremely slow and often does not heal for many years.
