Leukemia cutis
Leukemia cutis is a malignant tumor of white blood cells in the blood, characterized by diffuse infiltration of immature leukocytes in the bone marrow and abnormal numbers of immature leukocytes in the blood. In addition, immature leukocytes often extensively infiltrate the liver, spleen, lymph nodes and other organs including the skin. Clinically, the specific lesions of various types of leukemia cutis are macules, papules, plaques, nodules, ecchymoses, and palpable purpura. The histological characteristics of most leukemia cutis are dense or diffuse infiltration of atypical leukocytes around blood vessels and glands, with no infiltration bands under the epidermis. The diagnosis of leukemia cutis is based on the majority of cell types in the infiltration, the identification of the skin infiltration pattern, and the relationship between clinical and hematological examination findings. It is impossible to make a diagnosis based solely on the morphological characteristics of leukemia cells. In most cases, cytochemistry and immunohistochemistry examinations are required to accurately determine the source of leukemia cutis. Generally, leukemia is divided into the following two types: 1. Myelocytic granulocytic leukemia 2. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) accounts for about 50% of acute myeloid leukemia. However, leukemic infiltration is rare in AML. It has been reported that among 877 patients with acute myeloid leukemia, only 5 patients with AML had skin leukemic infiltration.
