Malignant hypertension
Malignant hypertension refers to a syndrome of significantly elevated blood pressure (the commonly used standard is diastolic blood pressure exceeding 140 mmHg, but there are other standards). It is accompanied by vascular damage, which can manifest as retinal hemorrhage, exudation, and papilledema, i.e. optic disc edema (K-W fundus grading grade IV), often accompanied by severe renal damage. If antihypertensive treatment is not actively taken, death will occur soon. Rapid hypertension is the precursor of malignant hypertension.
