Nevus of Ota
The brown-blue nevus of the eye and cheek was first reported by Dr. Ota in 1938, so it is also called "Nevus of Ota". It is an abnormal differentiation of skin melanocytes caused by genetic or certain intrauterine reasons, resulting in pigmentary lesions in the skin of the facial trigeminal nerve (mainly the 1st and 2nd branches), and often affecting the sclera and other tissues. Clinically, it is characterized by brown-blue patches or patches around the eyes and on the facial skin, so it is also called brown-blue nevus of the upper palate and eye dermal melanocytosis. The spots cannot disappear on their own, and laser is currently the best method for treating Nevus of Ota.
