Electrical burns
There are two types of electrical injuries clinically. One is systemic injury, called electric shock. The skin injury is slight, and the current enters the body and immediately spreads throughout the body, mainly damaging the heart and causing drastic changes in hemodynamics. This causes palpitations, dizziness, impaired consciousness, etc., and electric shock and even cardiac and respiratory arrest may occur. First aid quickly disconnects the patient from the power source and performs resuscitation. The other type is local injury, in which the current generates heat in the tissue where its conduction is blocked, causing tissue protein coagulation or carbonization, thrombosis, etc., which is called electrical burns. In addition, tissue cells in the current conduction path (such as vascular endothelium) can also be damaged by electrolysis, causing degeneration and necrosis. Patients with electrical burns do not suffer systemic injuries, but because the latter procedure is mild, there are only temporary symptoms, and local injuries are the main problem after recovery.
