Biliary ascariasis and hepatic ascariasis are two diseases that are closely related but different from each other, both of which originate from intestinal ascariasis. In 1932, British doctor Mure performed the first common bile duct incision and ascariasis removal in my country. In 1942, West China Medical University performed the second common bile duct incision and ascariasis removal, thus opening a new chapter in oriental biliary surgery. According to records since the discovery of biliary ascariasis, this disease has been rampant in my country for at least half a century and has become an important cause of primary hepatobiliary stones. It was not until the late 1970s that the incidence of biliary ascariasis began to show a clear downward trend with the continuous improvement of people's living standards and the gradual improvement of sanitary conditions.
