Facial paralysis
Facial muscles are divided into expression muscles and masticatory muscles. The former is innervated by the facial nerve, while the latter is innervated by the motor branch of the trigeminal nerve. The facial muscle paralysis described here only discusses the facial muscle paralysis, i.e., facial nerve paralysis. Facial nerve paralysis is more common in cranial nerve diseases. According to the cause, it is divided into five main types: idiopathic (Bell), trauma, infection, tumor, and neurogenic. Idiopathic facial nerve paralysis, i.e., Bell's palsy, is introduced in detail as a separate disease. Other types of facial nerve paralysis are described here.
