Potassium permanganate poisoning
Potassium permanganate is a strong oxidant. Low concentrations have disinfecting and astringent effects, while high concentrations have irritating and corrosive effects. Children are often poisoned by mistakenly ingesting its crystals as sugar or drinking its solution; occasionally, high-concentration solutions are used for gastric lavage to rescue poisoning, resulting in poisoning.
