Auricular perichondritis
Purulent auricular perichondritis is a purulent inflammation of the auricular perichondrium. It is usually caused by auricular injury, such as trauma, surgical injury, auricular acupuncture treatment or secondary infection of auricular puncture and fluid extraction. The pathogens are mostly Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. If not treated properly, the auricle will curl up and form a "cauliflower ear"-like deformity.
