Some scholars believe that paranoid state and paranoid psychosis are synonymous. However, some scholars believe that paranoid state is characterized by prominent paranoid delusions without hallucinations. Its clinical manifestations are similar to paranoia, but the delusion structure is not as systematic and fixed as that of paranoia. It may be accompanied by hallucinations, but it is different from the scattered and absurd delusions of paranoid schizophrenia, accompanied by hallucinations, and personality decline. It is believed that paranoid state seems to be a state between paranoia and paranoid schizophrenia. Patients with paranoid state generally have a relatively good prognosis, but in follow-up, some patients eventually tend to mental decline.
