Cervical OLF
Ossification of the ligamentum flavum of the cervical spine refers to a type of disease in which repeated injury and reactive repair of the ligamentum flavum of the cervical spine leads to ossification of the ligament, thus causing a series of symptoms. This is a geriatric disease, with a higher proportion in the 50-60 age group, and the incidence tends to increase with age. Most patients are male, with a male-to-female ratio of 2:1. Ossification of the ligamentum flavum is common in the middle and lower cervical spine, with the most common in C5-6, followed by C4-5 and C6-7. The range of lesions is mostly 1-2 vertebrae, and multi-segment ossification of the ligamentum flavum is very rare. In the same segment, the incidence of bilateral lesions is similar to that of unilateral lesions. Unilateral lesions are more common on the left side.
