Procaine penicillin G

It has good antibacterial activity against hemolytic streptococci and other streptococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae and non-penicillinase-producing Staphylococci. It is sensitive to Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus anthracis, Actinomyces bovis, Streptobacillus moniliformis, Listeria monocytogenes, Leptospira and Treponema pallidum. It also has antibacterial activity against Haemophilus influenzae and Bordetella pertussis. It has good antibacterial effect on anaerobic bacteria such as Clostridium, Streptococcus and melanin-producing Bacteroides, but poor antibacterial effect on Bacteroides fragilis. It exerts bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.
