Appearance

Vitamin C chewable tablets are white, off-white or colored tablets with a slightly sweet and sour taste.

Indication

It is used to prevent scurvy and can also be used as an auxiliary treatment for various acute and chronic infectious diseases and purpura.

Usage and Dosage

Swallow after chewing. The usual dosage is 1 to 2 tablets at a time, 3 times a day.

Adverse Reactions

1. Long-term use of 2-3 grams per day can cause scurvy after discontinuation of the drug, so it is advisable to gradually reduce the dosage and discontinue the drug. 2. Long-term use of large amounts of vitamin C can cause urate, cysteine or oxalate stones. 3. Overdose (daily dosage of more than 1 gram) can cause diarrhea, red and shiny skin, headache, frequent urination (daily dosage of more than 600 mg), nausea and vomiting, and stomach cramps. 4. Excessive use of chewable vitamin C tablets can damage tooth enamel.

Drug Interactions

1 Oral administration of large doses of vitamin C can interfere with the anticoagulant effect of anticoagulants. 2 Combination with barbiturates or primidone can increase the excretion of vitamin C. 3 Sodium cellulose phosphate can promote the metabolism of vitamin C into oxalate. 4 Long-term or large-scale use of vitamin C can interfere with the effect of disulfiram on ethanol. 5 Salicylic acid can increase the excretion of vitamin C. 6 If used with other drugs at the same time, drug interactions may occur.
