Fat emulsion injection (C14~24)

Function and Efficacy

Certain unsaturated fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the body itself and must be taken from vegetable oils. They are indispensable nutrients for the body, so they are called essential fatty acids. They are also the precursors of physiologically active substances such as prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes. Fatty acids are the main energy source for the human body, and fatty acid oxidation is an important source of energy in the body. When the oxygen supply is sufficient, fatty acids can be broken down into CO2 and H2O in the body and release a large amount of energy, which is used by the body in the form of ATP. Except for brain tissue, most tissues can oxidize fatty acids, especially the liver and muscles. Phospholipids are the basic skeleton of the lipid bilayer of cell biological membranes (cell membranes, nuclear membranes, mitochondrial membranes), and are also the main components of various lipoproteins. They are involved in the transport of fat and cholesterol. If the phospholipids in plasma are too low, cholesterol will be high.

Ingredients

This product is a sterile emulsion made by emulsifying soybean oil for injection with lecithin for injection and adding glycerol for injection.

Phospholipids are the basic framework of the lipid bilayer of cell biological membranes (cell membranes, nuclear membranes, and mitochondrial membranes). They are the main components of lipoproteins and are involved in the transport of fat and cholesterol. Low levels of phospholipids in plasma may lead to abnormal cholesterol metabolism.

Appearance

This product is a white milky liquid.

Indication

Energy supplement. This product is one of the components of parenteral nutrition, providing energy and essential fatty acids for the body. It is used to supplement energy and essential fatty acids in parenteral nutrition, prevent and treat essential fatty acid deficiency in the human body, and provide essential fatty acids for patients who cannot maintain and restore normal essential fatty acid levels through oral administration. 30% fat emulsion injection (C14-24) is more suitable for patients with limited infusion volume and highly increased energy requirements.

Usage and Dosage

Adults: Intravenous drip, the maximum recommended daily dose is 3g (triglycerides)/kg based on fat mass. The energy provided by this product can account for 70% of the total energy. The infusion time of 500ml of 10% and 20% fat emulsion injection (C14-24) is not less than 5 hours; the infusion time of 250ml of 30% fat emulsion injection (C14-24) is not less than 4 hours. Newborns and infants: The dosage of 10% and 20% fat emulsion injection (C14-24) is 0.5-4g (triglycerides)/kg per day based on body weight, and the infusion rate is not more than 0.17g/kg per hour based on body weight. The maximum dose is no more than 4g/kg per day based on body weight. The infusion dose should only be administered under close monitoring of serum triglycerides, liver function, oxygen saturation and other indicators.

Adverse Reactions

It may cause fever, occasionally chills, nausea, and vomiting. Other side effects are relatively rare, including: 1. Immediate and early side effects: hypersensitivity reactions (allergic reactions, rashes, urticaria), respiratory effects (such as shortness of breath), and circulatory effects (such as hypertension/hypotension). Hemolysis, reticulocytosis, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, abnormal penile erection, etc. 2. Delayed side effects: Long-term infusion of this product may cause thrombocytopenia in infants. In addition, even if this product is not used during long-term intravenous nutrition, there will be temporary abnormalities in liver function indicators. Phlebitis, vascular pain, and bleeding tendency may occasionally occur. 3. When the patient's fat clearance ability is impaired, fat may occur despite normal infusion rate.

Precautions

It is contraindicated in patients with shock and severe lipid metabolism disorders (such as hyperlipidemia) and thrombosis.

Drug Interactions

This experiment has not been conducted and there are no reliable references.
