Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: The safety and effectiveness of this product for children under 18 years old have not been determined. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. When febuzostat was orally administered to rats and rabbits during the organogenesis period, the dose reached 48 mg/kg (40 and 50 times the human dose of 80 mg/day, calculated based on body surface area), there was no teratogenicity. During the organogenesis and lactation period, the oral administration of this product to pregnant rats at a dose of 48 mg/kg (40 times the human dose of 80 mg/day) found that the neonatal mortality rate increased and the weight gain of newborns decreased. 2. Febuzostat is secreted in rat milk. It is not known whether febuzostat is secreted in human milk. Since many drugs are secreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when administering this product to lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: No dose adjustment is required for elderly patients. There is no clinically significant difference in safety and effectiveness compared with other age groups, but it cannot be ruled out that some elderly patients are more sensitive to this product. The Cmax and AUC24 of febuzotostat after multiple oral doses in elderly patients (≥65 years) were similar to those in younger patients (18-40 years).

Drug Interactions

Febuzocorta is a xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor. Although the interaction between this product and drugs metabolized by XO (such as theophylline, mercaptopurine, azathioprine) has not been studied, the inhibitory effect of this product on XO will increase the plasma concentration of these drugs and produce toxicity. Patients who are taking azathioprine, mercaptopurine or theophylline are prohibited from using this product.
