Function and Efficacy

This product is a central anticholinergic anti-Parkinson's disease drug that selectively blocks the cholinergic nerve pathways in the striatum, but has less effect on the periphery, thus helping to restore the balance of dopamine and acetylcholine in the brain of Parkinson's patients and improve the patients' Parkinson's disease symptoms.

Indication

This drug can be used to treat Parkinson's disease and Parkinson's syndrome. It can also be used for drug-induced extrapyramidal disorders.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration: 1-2 mg (half a tablet to 1 tablet) per day at first, then increase by 2 mg (1 tablet) every 3-5 days until the best effect is achieved without side effects. Generally, no more than 10 mg (5 tablets) per day, divided into 3-4 doses, must be taken for a long time. The maximum daily dose is 20 mg (10 tablets). For drug-induced extrapyramidal disorders, 2-4 mg (1-2 tablets) on the first day, divided into 2-3 doses, then gradually increase to 5-10 mg (2.5-5 tablets) as needed and tolerated. Elderly patients should reduce the dose as appropriate.

Adverse Reactions

Common symptoms include dry mouth, blurred vision, etc., and occasionally tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, urinary retention, constipation, etc. Long-term use may cause drowsiness, depression, memory loss, hallucinations, and clouded consciousness.

Precautions

It is contraindicated for patients with glaucoma, urinary retention, and prostatic hypertrophy.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: Use with caution. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Use with caution. Precautions for the elderly: Long-term use in the elderly is likely to induce glaucoma. People with arteriosclerosis are prone to mental confusion, disorientation, anxiety, hallucinations and psychotic symptoms when taking the commonly used doses of anti-Parkinson's disease drugs. Use with caution.

Drug Interactions

1. When this product is used in combination with ethanol or other central nervous system depressants, the central inhibitory effect can be enhanced. 2. When this product is used in combination with adamantane, anticholinergic drugs, monoamine oxidase inhibitors pargyline and procarbazine, the anticholinergic effect can be enhanced and paralytic ileus may occur. 3. When this product is used in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors, it can lead to hypertension. 4. When this product is used in combination with antacids or adsorbent antidiarrheal agents, the effect of this product can be weakened. 5. When this product is used in combination with chlorpromazine, the latter's metabolism is accelerated, which can reduce its blood drug concentration. 6. When this product is used in combination with cardiac glycosides, the latter can prolong their residence time in the gastrointestinal tract, increase absorption, and be prone to poisoning.
