Propacetamol Hydrochloride for Injection

This product is a prodrug of acetaminophen. After intravenous or intramuscular injection, it can be quickly hydrolyzed by plasma esterase to release acetaminophen to work, and its mechanism of action is similar to the latter. It is mainly metabolized in the liver, about 60% to 80% is excreted in the urine after combining with glucuronic acid, and about 20% to 30% is excreted after combining with sulfuric acid. More than 5% is excreted in its original form. Another 4% is converted by cytochrome P450 into a metabolite combined with glutathione. The analgesic mechanism of this product is mainly to inhibit the metabolism of arachidonic acid, thereby inhibiting the generation and release of endogenous pain-causing substances to produce analgesic effects. By using the prodrug of non-steroidal analgesics, the generation of prostaglandins in the central nervous system can be selectively inhibited, which can produce analgesic effects similar to those of morphine, so it can be used for postoperative analgesia. Studies have shown that the efficacy of 2g injection of propacetamol hydrochloride for postoperative analgesia is similar to that of 50mg intramuscular injection of pethidine, and it takes effect faster, and the subjective evaluation of patients is also better than pethidine. There is no tolerance and dependence. In addition, the injection of this product also has sedative and antipyretic effects, which has a good therapeutic effect on clinical cases of high fever and prevention of convulsions. It is especially suitable for acute cases such as high fever and pain or patients who are not suitable for oral medication.

Deep intramuscular injection, intravenous injection or drip: Adults 1-2g/time, 2-4 times/day, daily dose not exceeding 8g. For patients with severe renal insufficiency, the interval between medications should be no less than 8h.

Precautions for children: This product is strictly for use in adolescents and adults over the age of 15. It is contraindicated for infants under 3 months old. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Because the active metabolite of this product, acetaminophen, can pass through the placenta and be secreted in breast milk, it is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: Due to the decline of liver and kidney function in elderly patients, the half-life of this product is prolonged, and adverse reactions are prone to occur. It should be used with caution or in a reduced dosage.
