Ingredients

The main ingredient of this product is metronidazole disodium phosphate. Chemical name: 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole-1-ethanol-phosphate disodium salt monohydrate. Molecular formula: C6H8N3Na2O6PH2O Molecular weight: 313.12

Indication

Used for various infectious diseases caused by anaerobic bacteria, such as sepsis, endocarditis, empyema, lung abscess, abdominal infection, pelvic infection, gynecological infection, bone and joint infection, meningitis, brain abscess, skin and soft tissue infection, etc.

Usage and Dosage

Intravenous drip: 0.915 g at a time, dissolved in 100 ml of sodium chloride injection or 5% glucose injection, slowly dripped within 1 hour, once every 8 hours, 7 days as a course of treatment.

Adverse Reactions

1. The most serious adverse reaction of this product is that it can cause epileptic seizures and peripheral neuropathy at high doses, the latter of which is mainly manifested as numbness and paresthesia of the extremities. In some cases, long-term use of the drug may cause persistent peripheral neuropathy. 2. Other common adverse reactions include: 1. Gastrointestinal reactions, such as nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, taste changes, dry mouth, metallic taste in the mouth, etc. 2. Reversible neutropenia. 3. Allergic reactions, rash, urticaria, itching, etc. 4. Central nervous system symptoms, such as headache, dizziness, syncope, paresthesia, limb numbness, ataxia and mental confusion. 5. Local reactions such as thrombophlebitis. 6. Others include fever, vaginal candidiasis, cystitis, difficulty urinating, dark urine color, etc., which are all reversible and will recover on their own after stopping the drug.

Precautions

It is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to this product or azole drugs and those with active central nervous system diseases and blood diseases.

Drug Interactions

1. This product can inhibit the metabolism of warfarin and other oral anticoagulants, enhance their effects, and cause the prothrombin time to be prolonged. 2. When used in combination with drugs that induce liver microsomal enzymes, such as phenytoin sodium and phenobarbital, it can enhance the metabolism of this product, reduce the blood drug concentration, and slow down the excretion of phenytoin sodium. 3. When used in combination with drugs that inhibit the activity of liver microsomal enzymes, such as cimetidine, it can slow down the metabolism and excretion of this product in the liver, prolong the blood elimination half-life (t1/2#61538;), and the dosage should be adjusted according to the results of blood drug concentration determination. 4. This product can interfere with the metabolism of disulfiram. When the two are used together, patients may experience mental symptoms after drinking. Therefore, patients who have used disulfiram within 2 weeks should not use this product again. 5. This product can interfere with the results of serum aminotransferase and lactate dehydrogenase determinations, and can reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
