Orlistat Tablets

Orlistat is a reversible gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor that inactivates the enzymes by forming covalent bonds with the active serine sites of gastric lipase and pancreatic lipase in the stomach and small intestine. The inactivated enzymes cannot hydrolyze fats (mainly triglycerides) in food into absorbable free fatty acids and monoacylglycerols. Undigested triglycerides cannot be absorbed by the body, thereby reducing calorie intake and controlling body weight. The drug does not need to be absorbed systemically to exert its efficacy. At the recommended therapeutic dose of 0.12g three times a day, orlistat can inhibit the absorption of 30% of fat in food. The drug does not need to be absorbed systemically to exert its efficacy, does not enter the blood, and does not produce adverse intestinal reactions that do not affect health. And the incidence of most adverse reactions is significantly reduced after long-term use of the drug.

Orlistat. Excipients include: microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, sodium lauryl sulfate and talc. Its chemical name is: (S)-2-carboxamido-4-methyl-pentanoic acid-(S)-1-{[(2S, 3S)-3-hexyl-4-oxo-oxacyclobutyl]methyl} dodecyl ester.

This product is white or off-white tablets.

For the treatment of obese or overweight patients (BMI ≥ 24). Orlistat tablets combined with a slightly reduced-calorie diet are indicated for the long-term treatment of obese and overweight patients, including those who have developed risk factors associated with obesity.

Adults: The recommended dose is one tablet of Iningman (Orlistat) taken during or within one hour after a meal. If a meal is missed or the food does not contain fat, one dose can be skipped. The therapeutic effects of long-term use of Orlistat tablets (including weight control and improvement of risk factors) can be sustained. The patient's diet should be nutritionally balanced, slightly low in calories, with about 30% of the calories coming from fat, and the food should be rich in fruits and vegetables. The intake of fat, carbohydrates and protein should be distributed over three meals a day. There is no evidence that more than three times a day/0.12g each time can enhance the efficacy. No dose adjustment is required for the elderly.

1. Common adverse reactions are: oily spots, increased gastrointestinal gas, urgency of defecation, fatty (oily) stool, steatorrhea, increased frequency of defecation and fecal incontinence. As the fat content in the diet increases, the incidence also increases accordingly. Most patients can improve after taking the medicine for a period of time. 2. More common acute gastrointestinal reactions are: abdominal pain/abdominal discomfort, gastrointestinal flatulence, watery stools, soft stools, rectal pain/rectal discomfort, dental discomfort, and gum discomfort. 3. Other rare adverse events observed are: upper respiratory tract infection, lower respiratory tract infection, influenza, headache, menstrual disorders, anxiety, fatigue, and urinary tract infection. 4. Occasionally, there are reports of allergies to this product. The main clinical manifestations are itching, rash, urticaria, angioedema, bronchospasm and allergic reactions. 5. There are very few reports of cases of herpes, elevated liver transaminases and alkaline phosphatase, and rare severe hepatitis.

1. Pregnant women are prohibited from using this product. 2. Patients who are allergic to orlistat or any of the ingredients in the drug preparation are prohibited from using this product. 3. Patients with chronic malabsorption syndrome or cholestasis are prohibited from using this product. 4. Patients with organic obesity (such as hypothyroidism) are prohibited from using this product.

1. This drug can reduce the absorption of vitamins A, D and E. This drug can be supplemented at the same time. If you are taking preparations containing vitamins A, D and E (such as some compound vitamin preparations), you should take it 2 hours after taking this drug or before going to bed. 2. Patients with type 2 diabetes may need to reduce the dose of oral hypoglycemic drugs (such as sulfonylurea drugs). 3. When this drug is used in combination with cyclosporine, it may cause a decrease in the plasma concentration of the latter. 4. When this drug is used in combination with amiodarone, it may cause the latter's absorption to be reduced and reduce its efficacy. 5.
