      Calcium chloride

Calcium chloride is a chemical consisting of chlorine and calcium. The chemical formula is CaCl2, which is slightly bitter. It is a typical ionic halide, white at room temperature, hard fragments or particles. Its common applications include brine for refrigeration equipment, road ice melting agents and desiccant.

Colorless cubic crystal. General industrial products for white or off-white porous block or granular, honeycomb. Odorless, slightly bitter taste. The relative density is 2.15. Melting point 782℃. The boiling point is above 1600℃. Extremely hygroscopic and easily deliquated when exposed to air. Easily soluble in water, at the same time release a lot of heat, its aqueous solution is slightly acidic. Soluble in alcohol, acetone, acetic acid. Reacting with ammonia or ethanol, CaCl2·8NH3 and CaCI2·4C2 Hs OH complexes were formed, respectively. At room temperature, the precipitation from aqueous solution is usually hexahydrate, which is gradually heated to 30℃

In its own crystalline water, continued heating gradually lost water, to 200℃ into diaqueous substance, reheating to 260℃ into white porous anhydrous calcium chloride.

Used as a desiccant, such as nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide and other gases drying. Used as dehydrating agent in the production of alcohols, esters, ethers and acrylics. Calcium chloride aqueous solution is an important refrigerant for refrigerating machine and ice making. It can accelerate the hardening of concrete and increase the cold resistance of building mortar. It is an excellent building antifreeze agent. Used as port antifogging agent and road dust collector, fabric fire retardant agent. Used as a protective agent and refining agent for aluminum magnesium metallurgy. It is a precipitator for the production of lake pigments. Used for deinking waste paper processing. It is the raw material for the production of calcium salts. Food industry used as chelating agent, coagulant.
