Mupirocin (MPC), also known as pseudomononic acid A, bactroban, and BRL4910A, is a naturally occurring broad-spectrum antibiotic produced by submerged fermentation of Pseudomonas fluorescens. It has a special structure and is not related to other antibiotics.

Application:

Mupirocin is mainly used to prevent and treat skin bacterial infections caused by Gram-positive cocci, such as primary skin infections such as impetigo, furuncle, folliculitis, and secondary skin infections such as eczema combined infection, ulcer combined infection, and trauma combined infection. The main mechanism of mupirocin's antibacterial effect is to inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria.
