      Sodium Gluconate  


    Sodium gluconate  is the sodium salt of gluconic acid, produced by fermentation of glucose. It is a white to tan, granular to fine, crystalline powder, very soluble in water. Non corrosive, non-toxic and readily biodegradable (98 % after 2 days), sodium gluconate is more and more appreciated as chelating agent.
    Sodium gluconate is widely used in industry. It can be used as a high-efficiency chelating agent, steel surface cleaning agent, glass cleaning agent in the construction, textile printing and dyeing, metal surface treatment and water treatment industries, and as a high-efficiency retarder in the concrete industry.

    Sodium gluconate is a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid type buffering scale inhibitor with excellent corrosion and scale inhibition performance. It can be used in combination with a variety of corrosion inhibitors such as sodium benzoate and polyaspartic acid to enhance the corrosion inhibition performance. Compared with other corrosion inhibitors, sodium gluconate has good characteristics: It has obvious coordination effect and is suitable for various formulations such as molybdenum, silicon, phosphorus, tungsten, and nitrite. Due to the coordination effect, the corrosion inhibition effect is greatly improved; Contrary to general corrosion inhibitors, the corrosion inhibition rate increases with the increase of temperature; Sodium gluconate has a strong complexing ability for calcium, magnesium, and iron salts, especially for Fe2+. It has excellent chelating effect; As a circulating cooling water corrosion and scale inhibitor, it is unmatched by other corrosion and scale inhibitors currently used, and can achieve the effect of eliminating pollution.

    Due to its excellent chelating properties, sodium gluconate is widely used in various industrial sectors such as water treatment, electroplating, metal and non-metal surface cleaning, and cement production. Sodium gluconate: It is used as a special cleaning agent for glass bottle cleaning in the food and beverage industry. Professional glass bottle cleaning agents with sodium gluconate as the main formula can improve the detergency and meet the requirements of green, safety and environmental protection; It is used as a steel surface cleaning agent in industries such as platinum plating and chrome plating. If the steel surface needs to be platinum-plated, chrome-plated, tin-plated, or nickel-plated to adapt to special uses, the surface of the steel billet must be strictly cleaned to make the coating firmly bonded to the steel surface. Adding sodium gluconate to the cleaning agent will achieve a very ideal effect.

    As a water reducer, it can increase workability and act as a plasticizer; it can be used as a cement water reducer to reduce cement content. As a retarder, sodium gluconate has superior characteristics. First, it can significantly delay the initial process of cement hydration, prolong the setting time of cement paste and concrete, and improve cement fluidity; second, it has a certain effect on the development of concrete strength after hardening; third, it can prolong the setting performance of cementitious gravel and improve compressive strength.
