1. Physical Properties
At room temperature, it is a colorless, transparent liquid with a strong fruity odor. It is practically insoluble in water but miscible with most organic solvents, such as ethanol and diethyl ether. It is classified as a Class III flammable liquid.
2. Chemical Properties
The molecule contains reactive carbon-carbon double bonds and ester groups, making it prone to addition and polymerization reactions; its tendency to self-polymerize increases significantly with rising temperature.
It can undergo hydrolysis under acidic or basic conditions, producing acrylic acid and n-butanol, and reacts violently with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, and strong bases.
(1) Polymerization Properties: Autopolymerization can occur at room temperature; the polymerization rate accelerates dramatically with increasing temperature, exposure to light, or contact with peroxides. Therefore, p-hydroxybenzyl ether (MEHQ) is added to industrial products as a polymerization inhibitor.
(2) Reactivity: The ester group can undergo hydrolysis under acid or base catalysis to produce acrylic acid and n-butanol; it can also undergo copolymerization with hard monomers (such as methyl methacrylate and styrene) to form acrylic copolymers with tunable properties.
(3) Hazardous Reactions: Contact with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, or strong bases can cause violent reactions; its vapors mixed with air can form explosive mixtures in a volume ratio of 1.2% to 9.9%.
3. Major Applications
(1) Coatings Industry: Used as a key soft monomer in the production of acrylic resins for coating products such as architectural emulsion paints and automotive refinish paints, imparting flexibility and weather resistance to the paint film.
(2) Adhesives Industry: Used in the production of pressure-sensitive adhesives and water-based structural adhesives; it serves as a key raw material for the adhesive layers in tapes, labels, and medical patches, enhancing the adhesive layer’s initial tack and resistance to aging.
(3) Other Industrial Applications: It is also used in the textile and paper industries as a fabric treatment agent and paper strengthener, and serves as an organic synthesis intermediate for polymer materials such as synthetic fibers and modified plastics.

The product strictly complies with the GB/T 2961-2014 national standard, accompanied by a complete set of MSDS, commodity inspection reports, and hazardous packaging certificates, and meets EU REACH import and export requirements. Standard packaging includes 200 kg galvanized closed-top steel drums and 1,000 L IBC containers. For large volumes, bulk transport via tank containers is available. Storing and transporting the product in a sealed, light-protected environment effectively delays oxidation and discoloration. Supply is stable and ample, supporting full-container and consolidated shipments for international trade, and meeting global chemical procurement and custom fine chemical production needs.
