TEXTILE GRADE SODIUM CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE CMC PRINTING THICKENER

    PRODUCT OVERVIEW

FSX Textile Grade Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose, commonly known as Sodium CMC or Na-CMC, is a water-soluble cellulose derivative developed for textile printing, printing paste preparation, textile sizing and related textile processing applications.

CMC functions as a thickener, stabilizer, suspending agent, binder, water-retaining agent and film-forming polymer in textile formulations. It helps control solution viscosity, maintain the uniform distribution of formulation components and improve paste stability during storage and textile processing.

This textile grade CMC is suitable for textile printing mills, textile sizing factories, printing paste formulators, textile chemical distributors and industrial customers looking for consistent viscosity, reliable solubility and stable batch-to-batch performance.

    KEY FEATURES

    1. Effective Viscosity Control

Textile grade CMC provides thickening performance in water-based textile formulations. Different viscosity grades can be selected according to the printing paste, textile sizing process, application equipment and required rheological properties.

    1. Good Water Solubility

The product can be dispersed and dissolved in water under appropriate mixing conditions. Proper addition and hydration help produce a uniform CMC solution with stable viscosity.

    1. Printing Paste Stabilization

CMC can help maintain the uniform distribution of dyes, pigments, fillers and other formulation components. It supports printing paste stability and helps reduce sedimentation or separation during storage and application.

    1. Controlled Printing Rheology

The appropriate CMC grade can help control paste flow, transfer and penetration during textile printing. Correct viscosity and rheology support more consistent printing performance.

    1. Clear Printing Definition

When the CMC grade and formulation are properly selected, controlled paste flow can help reduce excessive spreading and support clearer pattern outlines and fine printing details.

    1. Water Retention

Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose provides water-retaining properties in textile formulations. Controlled water retention can assist paste application and help maintain workable processing conditions.

    1. Film-Forming and Binding Properties

CMC can form a water-soluble film and provide binding performance. These properties make textile grade CMC suitable for selected printing, sizing and textile finishing applications.

    1. Stable Batch-to-Batch Quality

FSX Chemical controls important parameters such as viscosity, purity, degree of substitution, pH, moisture, particle size and insoluble matter according to the selected product grade and agreed specifications.

    MAIN APPLICATIONS

    Textile Printing Paste

CMC can be used as a thickener and stabilizer in selected textile printing paste formulations. It helps control viscosity, suspend formulation components and improve paste uniformity.

    Printing and Dyeing Auxiliary

Textile grade CMC can be used as an auxiliary in selected printing and dyeing formulations where thickening, stabilization, suspension or water retention is required.

    Pigment Printing Formulations

Depending on the complete formulation and performance requirements, CMC can be evaluated as a rheology modifier or stabilizing component in pigment printing systems.

    Textile Sizing

Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose can be used as a sizing and film-forming agent for cotton, synthetic fibers and blended yarns. It can help improve yarn surface protection and processing performance during weaving.

    Textile Finishing

CMC may be used in selected finishing formulations where viscosity control, binding or film formation is required.

    Formulated Textile Chemicals

The product can be used by textile chemical manufacturers as a water-soluble polymer component in customized printing, sizing and finishing products.

    SUITABLE CUSTOMER GROUPS

    • Textile printing factories
    • Printing paste manufacturers
    • Textile sizing factories
    • Textile dyeing and finishing factories
    • Textile auxiliary formulators
    • Textile chemical distributors
    • Industrial CMC importers
    • Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose wholesalers

    TYPICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The following parameters must be confirmed according to the selected grade and official Technical Data Sheet:

    Product Name: Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose
    CAS Number: 9004-32-4
    Grade: Textile Printing Grade
    Appearance: White to off-white powder
Purity or Active Content: According to the selected grade
Viscosity: Different viscosity grades are available
Degree of Substitution: According to the selected grade
pH Value: According to the selected grade
Moisture: According to the selected grade
Particle Size: According to the selected grade
Application: Textile printing, sizing and related textile processing
    Packaging: 25 kg per bag

Viscosity results can vary significantly depending on solution concentration, temperature, Brookfield spindle, rotation speed and hydration time. Buyers should provide the complete viscosity testing method when requesting an equivalent or replacement grade.

    RECOMMENDED DISSOLUTION METHOD

    1. Add the required amount of clean water to the mixing tank.

    2. Start moderate agitation before adding the CMC powder.

    3. Add the CMC slowly and evenly into the moving water. Avoid adding a large amount at one time, as this may cause lump formation.

    4. Continue stirring until the powder is fully dispersed.

    5. Allow sufficient hydration time until a uniform CMC solution is obtained.

    6. Add other formulation components according to the required textile process.

    7. Adjust the final viscosity based on the printing paste, sizing formulation, application equipment and fabric requirements.

    8. Conduct laboratory testing before full-scale production.

The optimum dosage depends on CMC viscosity, purity, degree of substitution, formulation composition, textile process and target application performance.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR REACTIVE DYE PRINTING

Standard CMC grades should not automatically be promoted as universal reactive dye printing thickeners.

CMC contains remaining hydroxyl groups that may interact with reactive dyes. Suitability for reactive dye printing depends on the degree of substitution, substitution uniformity, purity, molecular structure and the complete printing formulation.

If the intended application is reactive dye printing, the customer should provide the dye system, fabric type, printing method, current thickener specification and performance requirements. Laboratory compatibility testing should be completed before commercial use.

A specialized high-substitution CMC grade may be evaluated for reactive printing only when the corresponding technical parameters and application test results support the claim.
