n-Butyl Acetate (n-BA), CAS No. 123-86-4, molecular formula C6H12O2, is a colorless, clear liquid ester with a mild fruity odor. It is one of the most widely used industrial solvents, offering an excellent balance of solvency power, evaporation rate and low toxicity. Our product is available in 99.5% and 99.9% purity grades, produced under strict quality control to ensure batch-to-batch consistency for demanding coating, ink and adhesive formulations.

Main Applications

n-Butyl Acetate is a high-performance solvent for nitrocellulose, alkyd, acrylic, vinyl and urethane resins. It is widely used in the production of automotive paints, industrial coatings, wood lacquers, printing inks, thinners and paint removers, where its medium evaporation rate delivers excellent flow and leveling while minimizing blushing and film defects. It is also an important solvent in adhesives and sealants, leather finishing, artificial leather production, photographic film, pharmaceutical extraction and the manufacture of flavors and fragrances. In addition, n-butyl acetate serves as a reaction medium and extraction solvent in organic synthesis and is a key component in thinners for both solvent-based and high-solid coating systems.

Assay (GC): ≥ 99.5% or ≥ 99.9%; Water: ≤ 0.10%; Acidity (as acetic acid): ≤ 0.005%; Color (APHA): ≤ 10; Density (20°C): 0.878–0.883 g/cm³; Boiling range: 123.0–128.0°C; Appearance: colorless transparent liquid.

Packing & Storage

Standard packing is 180 kg or 190 kg new galvanized iron drums, 80 drums per 20-foot container with pallets or as loose drums, approximately 14.4–15.2 MT per FCL. IBC totes (1000 kg) and isotanks (approx. 21 MT) are available for bulk shipment. Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from heat, sparks, open flames and oxidizing agents. Shelf life: 12 months under proper storage.

n-Butyl Acetate is a flammable liquid (Class 3, UN 1123, Packing Group III). Keep away from ignition sources and static discharge. Use appropriate personal protective equipment—chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing—when handling, and ensure adequate ventilation. Full SDS, dangerous-goods-compliant packing certificates and transport documents are provided with each shipment.
