1. Physical Properties
At room temperature, it is a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid. It is practically insoluble in water but miscible with most organic solvents, such as ethanol, diethyl ether, and acetic acid.
2. Chemical Properties
Key Functional Groups: Chemically stable; does not readily decompose at room temperature.
‌Fire and Explosion Properties‌: Vapors can form explosive mixtures with air; the explosive limits range from 1.1% to 16.0%. It is highly flammable when exposed to open flames or high heat, and vapors can accumulate in low-lying areas and cause flashback.
‌Reactivity: Reacts violently with strong oxidizing agents, strong bases, and strong reducing agents; decomposes at high temperatures or upon contact with acid mists to produce toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide and sulfur oxides.
‌Combustion Products: Complete combustion produces carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide; incomplete combustion releases highly toxic hydrogen sulfide gas.
3. Main Applications
Petrochemical Industry: It is a core, essential additive for refining and chemical enterprises producing low-sulfur, clean fuels.
Agriculture: It serves as an environmentally friendly alternative to chloropicrin and methyl bromide. As a bio-inspired soil fumigant, it effectively controls harmful pathogens such as nematodes and fungi in soil, thereby increasing crop yields.
‌Fine Chemicals Sector‌: It is a key intermediate in the production of methyl sulfonyl chloride and methyl sulfonic acid, and can also serve as a raw material for synthesizing rubber vulcanization accelerators.
‌Other Applications‌: It can be used as an industrial solvent to dissolve oils, resins, and waxes; when added in trace amounts, it can be formulated into food flavorings with onion or garlic notes; and it can also be used in wastewater treatment processes to control the emission of hydrogen sulfide odors.

The product strictly complies with the GB/T 2961-2014 national standard, accompanied by a complete set of MSDS, commodity inspection reports, and hazardous packaging certificates, and meets EU REACH import and export requirements. Standard packaging includes 200 kg galvanized closed-top steel drums and 1,000 L IBC containers. For large volumes, bulk transport via tank containers is available. Storing and transporting the product in a sealed, light-protected environment effectively delays oxidation and discoloration. Supply is stable and ample, supporting full-container and consolidated shipments for international trade, and meeting global chemical procurement and custom fine chemical production needs.
