Methods of Manufacturing

Use β-naphthol to etherify with methanol-sulfuric acid to generate β-methoxynaphthalene, and then condense with propionyl chloride to obtain 2-propionyl-6-methoxynaphthalene. The latter is obtained by bromination of pyridine hydrobromide perbromide.

Naproxen intermediate.
