(2E)-3-CYCLOHEXYLPROP-2-ENOIC ACID Use and Manufacturing

The hydrolysis of (E)-ethyl 3-cyclohexylacrylate, using the procedure described above, afforded trans-20 (78percent) as colorless needles: mp 46-47 °C (hexane); General procedure: To a solution of 4-acetoxycinnamic acid (41 mg, 0.2 mmol) in THF(1 mL), EDCI (38 mg, 0.2 mmol), DMAP (6 mg, 0.05 mmol), and Et3N (45 L, 0.3 mmol) were added.Then, 16a (27 mg, 0.066 mmol) in THF (1 mL) was added under nitrogen. The solution was stirredat r.t. for 12 h. The organic layer was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by columnchromatography (petroleum ether/EtOAc = 3:1) to give 21 as white solid (24 mg, 45.0%).
