One of a group of pigments made by combining tobias acid and beta-naphthol. /Lithol red/|Coupling of diazotized 2-amino-1-naphthalene-sulfonic acid with 2-naphthol, followed by salt formation.

Uses

Industrial enamels; toys and dipping enamels; rubber, plastics, etc. /Lithol red/|Used in printing inks and paints, having tinctorial strength; in alkyd resin enamels and lacquers when the solvent fastness is sufficient; rubber, though subject to some migration. Also linoleum, paper coating, emulsion paints, inks for wrapper, wallpaper and foil printing; PVC; U/F, P/F, polystyrene and amino resins and plastics; student grade artists' coloring materials
