SRP: The most favorable course of action is to use an alternative chemical product with less inherent propensity for occupational exposure or environmental contamination. Recycle any unused portion of the material for its approved use or return it to the manufacturer or supplier. Ultimate disposal of the chemical must consider: the material's impact on air quality; potential migration in soil or water; effects on animal, aquatic, and plant life; and conformance with environmental and public health regulations.

Tolerances are established for residues of zoalene (3,5-dinitro-o- toluamide) and its metabolite 3-amino-5-nitro-o-toluamide in food as follows: (a) In edible tissues of chickens: (1) 6 parts per million in uncooked liver and kidney; (2) 3 parts per million in uncooked muscle tissue; (3) 2 parts per million in uncooked fat. (b) In edible tissues of turkeys: 3 parts per million in uncooked muscle tissue and liver.

It was left in the drier after heating had been discontinued (though cooling was not applied) and air had been allowed in, to await discharge the next working day. After 2 hr, a violent explosion occurred. Later investigation of the stability of the compound, notably by accelerating rate calorimetry techniques, showed that the excessively long drying time had probably caused the onset of thermal decomposition while heat was still being applied, and that further storage under virtually adiabatic conditions would have led to the steady acceleration of the exothermic decomposition to the point of explosion. At this point, it was estimated that a temperature in excess of 800 °C had been attained in the drier at detonation, when the shock wave would generate a pressure approaching 800 bar. Differential scanning calorimetry techniques had shown exotherms at 273 °C for unheated material, and of 248-259 for material which had been preheated using conditions thought to be present in the drier. The finely powdered amide is also a significant dust explosion hazard, maximum explosion pressures of 10.4 bar and maximum rate of rise above 680 bar/second having been determined.

SRP: The scientific literature for the use of contact lenses in industry is conflicting. The benefit or detrimental effects of wearing contact lenses depend not only upon the substance, but also on factors including the form of the substance, characteristics and duration of the exposure, the uses of other eye protection equipment, and the hygiene of the lenses. However, there may be individual substances whose irritating or corrosive properties are such that the wearing of contact lenses would be harmful to the eye. In those specific cases, contact lenses should not be worn. In any event, the usual eye protection equipment should be worn even when contact lenses are in place.|SRP: Contaminated protective clothing should be segregated in such a manner so that there is no direct personal contact by personnel who handle, dispose, or clean the clothing. Quality assurance to ascertain the completeness of the cleaning procedures should be implemented before the decontaminated protective clothing is returned for reuse by the workers. Personal protection: particulate filter respirator adapted to the airborne concentration of the substance. Sweep spilled substance into covered containers. If appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting.

A nuisance-causing concentration of airborne particles can be reached quickly when dispersed.

Drug Information

(VET): Coccidiostat|VET: /Dinitolmide exerts its/ greatest coccidiostatic activity against the asexual stages by arresting parasite development. Efficacy is limited to Eimeria tenell and E. necatrix unless combined with other products.

Agents useful in the treatment or prevention of COCCIDIOSIS in man or animals. (See all compounds classified as Coccidiostats.)

Exposure Routes: inhalation, ingestion, skin and/or eye contact Symptoms: Contact eczema Target Organs: Skin, liver, blood (NIOSH, 2016)

Eye: If this chemical contacts the eyes, immediately wash the eyes with large amounts of water, occasionally lifting the lower and upper lids. Get medical attention immediately. Contact lenses should not be worn when working with this chemical. Skin: If this chemical contacts the skin, immediately wash the contaminated skin with soap and water. If this chemical penetrates the clothing, immediately remove the clothing, wash the skin with soap and water, and get medical attention promptly. Breathing: If a person breathes large amounts of this chemical, move the exposed person to fresh air at once. If breathing has stopped, perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Keep the affected person warm and at rest. Get medical attention as soon as possible. Swallow: If this chemical has been swallowed, get medical attention immediately. (NIOSH, 2016)|(See procedures)

Using o-methyl acid as raw material, 3, 5-dinitro-o-toluic acid is obtained by nitration, and then the product is obtained by chlorination with dichlorosulfoxide and ammoniation.

Uses

antiprotozoal.As an anticoccidial drug, it has the best control effect against E. coccidii in E. coccidioides, and it is also effective against E. tenella, E. baumannii and E. gianti effective. It can be used for chicken feed, the maximum dosage is 125g/t, banned during the laying period.
