Tartrazine Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Preparation of sodium dihydroxytartarate Tartrate is slowly added to the mixture of nitric acid, sulfuric acid and fuming sulfuric acid at about 20°C, and stirred. After the addition, the reaction is performed at a constant temperature for 0.5h, and then water is added and stirring at a constant temperature is continued for 48h. After the reaction is completed, sodium carbonate is added for neutralization (temperature does not exceed 20°C), filtered, washed with water and dried to obtain sodium dihydroxytartarate. Preparation of phenylhydrazine p-sulfonic acid Dissolve sodium carbonate in 13 times the amount (mass) of hot water, then add p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid, and stir, after cooling, add concentrated sulfuric acid slowly, and cool to below 5 ℃; in 3 Slowly add 1:2 (mass ratio) sodium nitrite solution at ~5°C for diazotization. After the reaction, the material showed strong acidity (blue color) to Congo red test paper, centrifuged, and rinsed the diazonium salt with clean water. Note: The diazo compound should not be dried or placed at a high temperature, otherwise it will explode. Dissolve crystalline sodium sulfite in 1.5 times the amount (mass) of water, slowly add the diazonium salt at 0 ~ 5 ℃ and vigorously stir, when the material is bright orange and weakly alkaline to the phenolphthalein test solution, continue Stir and hold for 1h. Then the material liquid was heated to boiling, hydrochloric acid was slowly added (about 0.5h), the material liquid gradually became yellowish, stirring was continued, and zinc powder was slowly added until the material liquid was colorless, and white flake crystals precipitated. After cooling overnight, separation and drying to obtain phenylhydrazine p-sulfonic acid. Production of lemon yellow Dissolve bishydroxytartaric acid in 1.5 times the amount (mass) of water, slowly add hydrochloric acid, and heat to 30 ℃; then add phenylhydrazine to sulfonic acid in 3 times the amount (mass) of water, and add hydrogen Stir the sodium oxide solution; add it to the sodium dihydroxytartarate solution and react at 80 ℃ for about 1 hour. Cool to room temperature, let stand for 12h, a yellow precipitate is deposited, and the crude product is filtered. The crude product can be dissolved in water at 60 ℃, add {sodium carbonate to make it weakly alkaline, then add refined salt, cool and crystallize, separate and dry to get the finished product. It can also be prepared by coupling of p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid with 1-(p-sulfophenyl)-3-carboxy-5-pyrazolone after diazotization. Preparation of Lemon Yellow Aluminum Lake: Aluminum hydroxide is prepared from aluminum salts such as aluminum chloride and aluminum sulfate and sodium carbonate and the like, and an aqueous solution of lemon yellow is added to precipitate to obtain a product.

Uses

As a dye for wool and silks; as colorant in food, drugs and cosmetics. In biochemistry as an adsorption-elution indicator for chloride estimations.

Drug Function and Efficacy

Zinc is an important component of many enzymes in the body and has the functions of promoting growth and development and improving taste. When it is deficient, growth stagnation, reproductive inability, difficulty in wound healing, body weakness, conjunctivitis, stomatitis, glossitis, lack of appetite, chronic diarrhea, loss of taste and neurological symptoms may occur. Zinc is particularly important for the growth and development of children.

This ingredient has been used in drugs with the following functions (note: it does not mean that the ingredient itself has the following health functions)
