Drug Function and Efficacy

When absorbed, it is metabolized into cefditoren in the intestinal wall and exerts its antibacterial effect. It has a broad antibacterial spectrum against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Branhamella catarrhalis, Klebsiella, Proteus, and Haemophilus influenzae, and anaerobic bacteria such as Peptostreptococcus, Propionibacterium acnes, and Bacteroides. It is stable to β-lactamases produced by various bacteria, and also shows strong antibacterial activity against β-lactamase-producing strains.
