2022-10-25

Reducing salt intake is the most cost-effective public health strategy to prevent hypertension, and the food industry is the cornerstone force to achieve the salt reduction goal. In order to implement the "Health China 2030" planning outline and the "National Nutrition Plan (2017-2030)", the goal of "reducing the national per capita daily salt intake by 20% in 2030" was proposed, and the "China Food Industry To further promote the implementation of the "Salt Reduction Guidelines", a practical seminar on the "Salt Reduction Guidelines for China's Food Industry" in 2022 was held in Beijing on August 25, hosted by the China Nutrition Society, organized by the China Institute of Nutrition and Health, and supported by Anqi Yeast Co. Leaders from relevant departments and offices of the National Health Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, experts and scholars in the field of nutrition and food, representatives of R&D, technical regulations, product applications and media from the food industry based on China's national conditions and the urgent need to maintain people's health, discussed in depth the science, technology and practice of salt reduction from the current situation of industrial development and the need for innovative development, with a view to promoting positive actions of food enterprises.

At present, the salt intake of Chinese people generally exceeds the standard. The "2020 Report on the Status of Nutrition and Chronic Diseases in China" shows that the average daily cooking salt intake of Chinese adult residents is 9.3 grams, far exceeding the recommended amount of 5 grams. High salt can increase the risk of hypertension and can increase the risk of stroke, stomach cancer, and all-cause mortality. Prof. Yang Xiaoguang, Vice President of the Chinese Nutrition Society, reviewed the systematic work and stage results of the Chinese Nutrition Society in promoting salt reduction in terms of guideline/standard formulation and revision, policy promotion, public science education, scientific research, industry interaction, and technology integration and innovation case publicity.

He said that the Food Industry Salt Reduction Practice Seminar is a special conference forum held on the occasion of the publication of "China Food Industry Salt Reduction Guide". After four years of accumulation, it has become a branded communication platform for domestic salt reduction work, gathering experts, industry, media and other forces from all walks of life, and is a weathervane meeting to discuss and exchange the stage effectiveness of salt reduction work and the effect of new technology application in China. In the future, the conference will continue to bring together the professional and industrial forces of nutrition, food, economics and communication, and continue to promote the "three reductions" and their effectiveness with the scientific research and technological innovation, as well as with the scientific and industrial sectors and the media.
