foodmate 2022-11-22

On November 22, 2022, Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration released a list of unqualified foods for border inspection, showing that a batch of frozen taro in Vietnam exceeded the standard of heavy metals.

According to the notification, the name of the Vietnamese manufacturer or exporter is BAU TROI DEP import PORT AND EXPORT CO., LTD, and the importer in Taiwan is Pusheng International Co., Ltd.

It is understood that the batch of frozen taro was detected with heavy metal lead 0.4 mg/kg. According to the "Hygienic Standards for Contaminants and Toxins in Food", the limit of lead (root vegetables and tubers) was 0.1 mg/kg, which did not comply with Article 17 of the Food Safety and Hygiene Management Law.

A total of 27,000.00 kg of non-conforming products were returned or destroyed.

Food Partner Network reminds domestic importers to pay close attention to the corresponding information and avoid importing substandard products.
