Singapore has imposed temporary import restrictions on poultry products from areas affected by the US avian influenza outbreak

foodmate 2022-11-25

On November 23, 2022, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) announced that it has suspended the import of poultry and its products near the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the United States.

Due to the outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5 in Wright County, Iowa, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, and Lawrence County, Mississippi, Singapore, will impose temporary restrictions on the import of poultry and their products within 10 kilometers of the affected areas. Heat-treated poultry products that meet the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) avian influenza virus inactivation requirements will not be affected by import restrictions.

Poultry products exported from Wright County, Iowa prior to October 31, 2022 and slaughtered prior to October 17, 2022 will continue to be accepted for import. Poultry products exported from Lehigh County, Pennsylvania prior to November 3, 2022 and slaughtered prior to October 20, 2022 will continue to be accepted for import. Poultry products exported from Lawrence County, Mississippi prior to November 4, 2022 and slaughtered prior to October 21, 2022 will continue to be accepted for import.
