Hong Kong Food Safety Centre: Import of poultry meat and poultry products from Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of Hong Kong announced on February 3 that in response to the notification from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan that there was an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, the CFS immediately instructed the trade to suspend the import of poultry meat and poultry products from the region (including poultry eggs) to protect public health in Hong Kong.
