According to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), on 26 December 2022, the National Food Safety Authority of the Republic of Moldova reported to WOAH an outbreak of African swine fever in Moldova.

According to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), on 26 December 2022, the National Food Safety Authority of the Republic of Moldova reported to WOAH an outbreak of African swine fever in Moldova.
The outbreak is in the Freshti District and was confirmed on 23 December 2022. The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain. Clinical, autopsy and laboratory tests revealed that 2 pigs were suspected to have been infected, became ill and died.

The outbreak is not yet over and the National Food Safety Authority of the Republic of Moldova will submit weekly follow-up reports.
