These beauty giants are listed in the 2020 Fortune Global 500

    Echemi 2020-08-13

On August 10, the "Fortune" official APP released the latest annual "Fortune" world top 500 list simultaneously globally.

"Fortune Magazine" (Fortune Magazine) was founded by American Henry Ruth in 1930. It is a magazine that mainly publishes research articles on economic issues. It is now part of Time Corporation, a subsidiary of Time Warner Group. This is the 26th consecutive year since it first released the list of the 500 largest industrial companies in the United States in 1955.

Comparing the list of Fortune 500 companies published by Fortune in 2019, this year's list still includes figures familiar to the five major groups such as Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Anglo-Dutch Unilever, Dior and L'Oreal.

As the only luxury group on the list this year, Dior has risen 7 places to 180th compared with last year. In addition, Johnson & Johnson and L'Oreal also rose steadily, rising 5 places to 104th and 21 places to 375 respectively. The two giants in the daily chemical industry-Procter & Gamble and Unilever dropped slightly, and both fell out of the top 150 rankings.

According to the data released by Fortune, the operating income of the Fortune 500 companies this year reached 33 trillion U.S. dollars (approximately RMB 229.6 trillion), which not only set a record high close to the combined GDP of China and the United States, but also entered the rankings. The threshold (minimum sales revenue) has also increased from 24.8 billion US dollars (about 172.56 billion yuan) to 25.4 billion US dollars (about 176.73 billion yuan).

Another change worth mentioning is that this year Chinese companies have achieved a historic leap: In 2020, the number of Chinese companies on the list will reach 124, surpassing the 121 companies in the United States for the first time in history. With the addition of Taiwanese companies, a total of 133 companies in China are on the list this year.
