2023 renewable energy will provide 25%electricity for the United States
According to the US research institution Sunday Campaign's review of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) survey data, the power generation of renewable energy in the first 10 months of 2022 accounts for nearly a quarter of the total US power generation.
The last period of the "Electricity Monthly" series of reports released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) in 2022 (data as of October 31) shows that in the first 10 months of 2022, renewable energy (including residential photovoltaic photovoltaic The power generation of the system increased by 14.26%compared with the same period last year. In contrast, the total energy power generation in the United States increased by only 3.14%.
Studies have shown that the power generation of renewable energy in 2022 accounted for 22.60%of the total US power generation, compared with 20.40%in the same period last year. Therefore, this may exceed the prediction of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), that is, the amount of renewable energy power generation in 2022 accounts for 22%of the total US power generation.
The power generation of the US photovoltaic system increased by 26.23%in 2022, with a share of more than 5.0%of the total US power generation, and 5.05%as of the end of October 2022. If review, the photovoltaic system has exceeded 1.0%for the first time in March 2016. Since then, the monthly power generation of photovoltaic has increased almost 6 times. This trend seems to continue -in October 2022, photovoltaic power generation increased by 31.68%compared with the same period in 2021, and this growth rate far exceeded other energy sources.
In addition, in the first 10 months of 2022, wind power generation increased by 16.86%, accounting for nearly one -tenth of the total US power generation (9.80%). Hydropower power generation increased by 6.13%, accounting for 6.14%of the total power generation. Geothermal and wood and wood -derived fuel power generation also increased by 6.45%and 0.16%, respectively. Only biomass power generation dropped by 4.85%.
In general, in the first 10 months of 2022, renewable energy power generation was 16.62%and 27.39%higher than coal -fired power generation and nuclear power, respectively. However, natural gas power generation continues to dominate, accounting for 39.40%of the total power generation.
Ken Bossong, executive director of Sunday Campaign, pointed out that "with the arrival of 2023, renewable energy is likely to provide nearly a quarter of electricity for the United States in the next year. The total power generation may exceed the nuclear power, or even the coal -fired power generation.
